Recipes

On this page we've brought together some authentic recipes for dishes and drinks that were on the menu during the civil war. Try some of these and you'll get a real taste of the 17th century.

Made with modern ingredients and equipment, the dishes will look and taste a little different to how they would have been in those far-off days before mechanised production and accurate oven temperatures. Nevertheless they will give you a good idea of the food and drink which people of that time were eating.

If you visit our events you might actually see some of these cooked the old-fashioned way over a camp fire, and eaten by members of the Siege Group!
